The veterinarian check includes a
complete examination of the animal. A checklist is completed for each animal which
includes a check of the face, eyes, ears, abdomen, rear end, tail, legs, feet, and
skin. The animals are also weighed and have their temperature checked.
Feline Leukemia and AIDs Tests are performed on
all cats and kittens prior to adoption.
Spaying or neutering is required for
all animals. Many vets are now performing spay or neuter procedures beginning at 4
months of age. Any animal older than 4 months will already be spayed or neutered
prior to adoption. Animals younger than four months will go home with a voucher for
the spay / neuter procedure. Any young animals adopted out unaltered must be spayed
or neutered by 6 months of age. Many vets in Spokane accept the spay / neuter
coupons provided by Pet Rescue.
Vaccinations include:
 | Cats - 3 Way and Rabies Vaccination |
 | Dogs - 7 Way and Rabies Vaccination |
Puppies and Kittens need booster shots. Pet Rescue provides the initial
vaccinations, however the owners will need to follow up with their veterinarian for
additional vaccinations.
Adult dogs and cats will have a current vaccination. All animals need annual
booster shots to stay current.
Licenses are required for all animals living in Spokane
County or within the city limits of Spokane. These need to be renewed
annually.
